For about 10 years I have been building a style of workbench for friends.
It has a 24 square foot main work surface that is 8 feet wide and can support hundreds of pounds.
It has four shelves and, including the work surface, has 64 square feet of space. It occupies 28 square feet of floor.
The bench's biggest feature is that it can be broken down into 10 pieces in about 20 minutes and transported in a small station wagon.
When assembled the bench is as rigid as a solid wood cube.
The bench costs about $110 in materials, electrical parts not included.
The bench may be constructed by unskilled labor in about 20 hours.
