Home The Village Grade Schools High School East End South End 101A Com&Ind Trains and Cars

Amherst has five school buildings.  The Brick School House downtown was once the only school building in Amherst, having been built just after the Civil War.   One of our friends graduated high school from the Brick School.  The Brick school is pictured on the downtown tour 2 page.

The Brick School is no longer used for classrooms but there are still administration offices there.

The other four buildings are more modern, the newest being the high school which was completed in the early 90s.

The High School and Middle School are on adjacent properties in the south end of town about 3 miles from the historic district..  The Wilkins and Clark elementary schools are near each other a few hundred feet north of downtown.

This is Wilkins Elementary School which serves Amherst's 2nd, 3rd and 4th Graders. Sept 96

This is the Clark Elementary School which serves Kindergarten, 1st graders and "Readiness" which is a pre-1st grade for 6 year olds. Oct 96

Amherst Middle School serves Grades 5-8 for all of Amherst, and Grades 7 & 8 from Mont Vernon. Sept 96
